The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center features an immersive 40-foot-wide signature film, A New Birth of Freedom, narrated by Morgan Freeman; numerous audio and video productions; and a state-of-the-art sound and light show that brings new life to the restored 1884 Cyclorama painting depicting Pickett’s Charge on the Battle of Gettysburg’s third day. This dynamic range of productions incorporates impressionistic original footage of battlefield scenes, archival imagery, immersive audio environments, and stories developed in collaboration with the nation’s preeminent Civil War historians to connect visitors with the causes, effects and sweep of the American Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg. In a room dedicated to the Gettysburg Address, a soundscape set on Cemetery Hill, Nov. 13, 1863, features Sam Waterston’s portrayal of Lincoln presenting the speech that has remained a clarion call for the meaning of citizenship and freedom in the United States. DLP produced the signature introductory film, the Cyclorama sound and light show, seven mini theaters, two audio programs, and a video overview of the Park.
