The Motown Sound

Set in a club environment that becomes a dance floor at the end of the show, The Motown Sound combines film, stills, theatrical lighting, and ambient sound to introduce visitors to the music and story of Motown. The film has been cited as one of the best existing portrayals of this unique, meteoric story, and features DLP interviews with Berry Gordy and other Motown insiders and artists. Within the exhibit, legendary Motown choreographer Cholly Atkins offers visitors a chance to learn a Temptations routine via an interactive video produced by DLP. Visitors can also view a historic video montage of Berry Gordy’s neighborhood in the early 1950’s, and a video invitation to Hitsville USA, original home of Motown.
